Kering has appointed Sophie Maddaloni as General Secretary of the Group, adding a new dimension to the luxury conglomerate’s senior leadership as it continues to navigate a period of strategic transformation.

Effective immediately, Maddaloni joins Kering’s Executive Committee and will report to Jean-Marc Duplaix, Group Chief Operating Officer. Her appointment places her at the heart of the structures responsible for governance, risk, compliance and the protection of Kering’s corporate interests.

Based in Paris, Maddaloni will oversee the Group’s Legal, Internal Control, Internal Audit and Security functions, working alongside Kering’s Executive Management and Board of Directors.

The role brings together several strands of an extensive career that has taken Maddaloni through some of the world’s most prominent international businesses, before ultimately bringing her to Kering almost a decade ago.

From International Tax to Group Governance

Maddaloni’s career began in 1991 at Elf Aquitaine, where she spent more than ten years working across international tax functions. Her early career coincided with the evolution of the business that would become part of today’s TotalEnergies.

She subsequently held senior tax responsibilities at Alstom T&D, joining the company as Vice President Tax in 2002. In 2004, she moved to Technip, where her remit expanded to include the Group’s tax and legal entity functions.

Her relationship with Kering began in 2017, when she joined the Group as Tax Director.

Over the following years, Maddaloni played a role in reshaping Kering’s tax function and strengthening the Group’s approach to compliance and risk management. That experience has now culminated in a broader mandate spanning governance, legal affairs, internal control, audit and security.

It is a progression that reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of governance within global luxury groups, where regulatory complexity, risk management and long-term strategic decision-making have become central to protecting both corporate value and the interests of their stakeholders.

A New Chapter at Kering

Maddaloni’s appointment comes at a significant point in Kering’s evolution. With a portfolio encompassing some of the world’s most recognised luxury Houses, the Group operates across highly competitive and increasingly complex international markets.

Her combination of institutional knowledge and experience across major multinational organisations is therefore particularly relevant to the role.

Kering says Maddaloni’s expertise will support the implementation of its strategic priorities while further reinforcing the Group’s governance standards and long-term development.

For Maddaloni, the appointment marks a natural progression from a career rooted in international taxation into a much broader leadership position, one that places governance and organisational resilience firmly within her remit.

An Experienced Executive at the Centre of Kering’s Future

Academically, Maddaloni holds a Master’s degree in Business Law from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, alongside a postgraduate DESS in International Business Law and Taxation from HEC Paris – Université de Sceaux.

Her career now brings that legal and financial foundation into one of Kering’s most strategically important corporate functions.

As the Group continues to shape its next chapter, Maddaloni’s appointment signals a continued emphasis on strong governance behind the creativity and craftsmanship for which Kering’s Houses are known.
