There are destinations where luxury is defined by what surrounds you rather than what is placed inside the room. Ranthambore is one of them.
As the core zones of Ranthambore National Park reopen for the 2026–27 season, JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa enters its first full season, offering a new interpretation of the luxury safari experience in one of India’s most evocative landscapes.
Set between the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges, the resort is positioned at the intersection of wilderness, heritage and contemporary hospitality. It is also a significant addition to Marriott’s Indian portfolio, having opened as the 10,000th hotel in Marriott Bonvoy’s global collection and the 11th JW Marriott in India.
Yet the appeal of Ranthambore extends well beyond the anticipation of encountering a tiger in the wild.

The landscape carries centuries of history, from the UNESCO-listed Ranthambore Fort and the Trinetra Ganesh Temple to ancient ruins, forested hills and still lakes. The resort reflects this sense of place through an experience designed around discovery at a gentler pace.
Its 127 accommodations range from tented suites and private-pool villas to garden-access junior suites, lake-facing rooms and a Presidential Suite. Rather than treating the resort simply as a base between safari excursions, the experience encourages guests to linger. Days can unfold through nature walks, encounters with local artisans, pottery and bangle-making, camel cart rides and art walks, before moving into evenings of stargazing, pickleball, soft archery or bowling.
For those looking to explore the culinary character of the region, Skyloft takes its inspiration from the traditional machan, once used as elevated wildlife observation platforms. Its menu reimagines recipes associated with the royal kitchens of Mewar and Marwar, bringing Rajasthan’s culinary heritage into a contemporary setting. Roar offers international all-day dining, while Elan provides a more relaxed poolside atmosphere. The JW Market adds a retail and café element, with a selection of Indian homegrown brands, coffee and fresh fare.
Wellness is woven throughout the stay. At Spa by JW, treatments draw on Ayurvedic traditions and are personalised around the guest’s dosha, complemented by steam, sauna, jacuzzi and fitness facilities. For families, dedicated spaces and activities provide younger guests with their own opportunities for creativity and exploration.

The design, by Singapore-based Ashton Design, follows a similarly restrained philosophy. Earth-toned interiors, natural materials, open courtyards and native planting allow the architecture to sit comfortably within its surroundings. The resort’s landscape has also become a habitat for birdlife, with species including the Indian Paradise Flycatcher, Purple Sunbird and White-throated Kingfisher among those found across the grounds.
This is perhaps the most compelling aspect of JW Marriott Ranthambore: the recognition that luxury in a wilderness destination does not need to compete with nature. It can create space for it.
With the national park once again welcoming visitors into its core zones, the resort offers a new lens through which to experience Ranthambore, balancing the thrill of exploration with the increasingly coveted luxury of slowing down.
